Kim Rutland MS, ACSM EP-C
Being a military brat, I always enjoyed traveling where ever our family was stationed. My dad completed two tours in Germany and as a family we traveled to various sites around Europe. We always did a lot of walking and hiking. Now my parents are close to 80 years old with the time and money to travel, but not the health. My goal is to encourage, motivate and train others to exercise, and live a healthier lifestyle so their overall quality of life can be better.
I have over 30 years experience in the health and fitness industry working with clients post surgery, weight loss and management, preparing for trips, training for events (road races, tri’s, cycling events), and those wanting to increase their muscle strength and endurance. I have personally been part of a group of ladies that have been meeting for the last 30 years in the wee hours of the morning. We have competed in 5k’s, 10k’s, a few marathons, 100k bike rides, numerous triathlons and mud races all while raising children, being the wives of the year and working.
I believe that exercise is not an event- we have to infuse health and fitness into our daily schedule. I have a masters degree in Exercise Science, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Physiologist certified and have completed the ACSM Exercise is Medicine course.
We have to train for life! In 1903 Thomas Edison said, “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest the patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and the cause and prevention of disease.”
